The combination of the trophies “We’re in This Together” (Kept all Underbosses alive until “Yet Here We Are”) & “Just You and Me” (Kept only one Under-boss alive until “Yet Here We Are”) ensure that you’ll have to do multiple play troughs in a linear type of game that would be fine, but in an open world game, where I’ll be spending 25-30 hours it’s a bit ridiculous.
This was far from the hardest platinum trophy I have achieved, but it does have a couple trophies that make no sense to me in an open world game. Any character that Mafia 3 spends time with in the cut scenes, I can see someone getting attached to them and how can you not love Donovan? Honestly, as a game Mafia 3 fails the test for me, but the effort taken to put this story together can’t go unnoticed. Lincoln clay is a good character, with some depth to him and it makes a happy change to have a Black protagonist (shout out to diversity in games). Other than that, the characters and story line are some of the best I have seen in a long time every cut scene was engaging, and I caught myself wanting to keep watching it just to see the story progress in that way. Now…the saving graces of this game have nothing to do with its game play…but the sound track in the game is amazing! It really catches the era they were going for, and great to see that they took the trouble of putting a good sound track together.
